Role description

The Production Manager directs the activities of multiple assembly and shipping processes within Habasit America's Modular department in Suwanee, GA, with the goal of maximizing efficiency and profitability for Plastic Products and Shipping. This role builds and develops operations processes and procedures, leads employee training and development, and partners with the Head of Operations to execute strategic and operational priorities.

  • Support the vision, mission, and guiding principles of the company.
  • Observe applicable safety, health, and environmental rules and guidelines, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Build and develop the operations organization, processes, and procedures to support strategic direction.
  • Establish operations initiatives for improvement in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and employee relations.
  • Establish operations standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery.
  • Establish manufacturing policies in areas such as Lean Manufacturing techniques, materials usage, shipping and receiving, capacity planning, production scheduling, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, and performance measures.
  • Direct the implementation and execution of manufacturing policies and practices throughout the organization.
  • Build, develop, and manage an operations leadership team capable of carrying out operations strategies and improving employee relations.
  • Provide leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and stronger working relationships.
  • Oversee the operations budget to ensure compliance with organizational expenditure requirements.
  • Lead people and drive results through others.
  • Think ahead and plan over a 1-2 year time span.
  • Handle problem analysis and resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
  • Apply technical skills in Lean Manufacturing techniques, Kaizen, process improvement, freight and distribution, materials management, and production scheduling.
  • Lead employee training, development, and succession planning.
  • Exhibit a strong customer orientation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

This position operates in both office and manufacturing environments. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to forklift traffic, machinery, noise, and production environments.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to talk and/or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to operate machinery, including forklifts, trucks, and automobiles.

Travel

This position requires minimal travel, primarily within the Suwanee facility, with occasional travel to other Habasit America locations as needed.

Required Education and Experience

  • BS/BA in Engineering or Industrial Management.
  • 5-7 years of industrial management experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience with CNC cutting machines/automation.
  • Experience in operations involving assembly-related processes requiring high dexterity.
  • Experience with the DuPont STOP Safety Program.
  • Experience developing productivity rates and standards.
  • Experience with ISO systems management.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, either implementation and/or management.
  • Experience in a Shipping department.

What we offer


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Additional hours may be required to meet operational demands.
