Role description
The Quality Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all products, processes, and services meet the company’s quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves monitoring, analysing, and improving quality systems, conducting audits, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of quality assurance methodologies, excellent problem-solving skills, and experience working within a compliance-focused environment.
Your main challenges
Process Monitoring & Improvement:
- Maintenance and further develop - Habasit UK Quality Management System in line with relevant quality standards and regulations, such as ISO 9001
- Develop and implement methods, procedures and process alongside department owners to develop zero defect culture.
- Maintain and update quality documentation, such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality manuals, and compliance records.
- Develop supplier quality assurance program with an aim to streamline and eliminate customer non-conformances.
- Conduct risk assessments and identify opportunities to reduce quality risks.
Process Monitoring & Improvement:
- Develop standard processes with aim to detect and correct any defects in the product or process before delivery to customer.
- Analyse production and operational processes to identify root causes of quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance product quality, reduce defects, and streamline processes.
- Utilise Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies to drive changes.
Auditing & Reporting:
- Conduct internal quality audits and lead / assist in preparing for external audits by regulatory agencies or clients.
- Track and report on key quality metrics, such as defect rates, non-conformance reports, and corrective actions.
- Prepare and present quality performance reports to management, highlighting trends, issues, and improvement plans.
Training & Development:
- Develop and deliver training programs on quality standards, compliance requirements, and best practices.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for quality-related issues, providing guidance and support to operational teams.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work closely with production, service, supply chain, and customer service teams to ensure alignment on quality objectives.
- Support cross-functional teams in implementing quality initiatives and resolving quality-related problems.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure incoming materials meet the required quality specifications.
Education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Science, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in a quality assurance or quality control role.
- Experience working in a regulated industry (e.g., manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, food & beverage) is highly preferred.
- Good communication/influencing skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Proficiency in quality management systems (QMS) and tools such as statistical process control (SPC).
- Familiarity with compliance and regulatory standards relevant to the industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
