Role description
To lead Environmental, Health and Safety policy, procedure, and culture within Habasit UK (Production unit, Assembly centre and Field service activities).
Your main challenges
- To lead the development of a strong Health and Safety focused culture across Habasit UK, promoting good safety behaviours across the business.
- Leader of EHS policy and management system for Habasit UK, to maintain and develop the current system further in line with business objectives and changes.
- Develop and implement specific site specific EHS programs, including emergency preparedness, fire protection, electrical safety, assessment, safety and secure work procedures for activities, hazardous waste management, EHS training, ergonomics, contractor safety, machine protection, chemical safety, PPE (personal protection equipment) and crisis management.
- Implementation and ownership of workplace inspections and Internal audit programs in line with ISO 14001 (Environment) and ISO 45001 (Health and Safety) Standards and where deviations, instigating corrective actions, direct and coordinate relevant departments within HUK.
- Develop, manage all ongoing programs, and action plans implemented by the sites for the protection of the environment, including permits for air emissions, hazardous waste management, and wastewater management.
- Overseeing environmental initiatives, such as waste management, pollution prevention, and sustainability efforts to minimise the organisation's environmental impact.
- Assess all contractors’ processes and procedures (RAMS, PTW etc) to verify they meet the Company’s expected EHS standards and that their performance is satisfactory measured against agreed targets.
- External liaison with regulators, consultants, trade and professional bodies to ensure compliance and capture best practice. Acts as point of contact for any internal or external audits. Liaise with insurance investigators on 3rd Party liability claims.
- To ensure EHS Management Systems undergo management review on a frequent basis, incorporating improvements including those identified through legislative and performance review.
- Liaise with HR to support the management of Injury & Illness procedures and cases.
- Introduce and monitor programs for reduction of injury rate. Carry out detailed investigations of more serious incidents in the workplace and draft appropriate reports including determining the root cause or causes of the incident.
- Collaborate and coach operational and functional managers of the sites to ensure that all operational activities are clearly identified, and risks assessed, to ensure the implementation of secure work procedures and control of safety risks.
- Lead safety meetings and other management forums to ensure key points are discussed and that suitable actions are taken on the matters raised to upkeep the EHS policy and management system.
- Collaborate with HR on all external training needs, developing annual plans and budgets.
- Partner with HR on all wellbeing initiatives/programmes
What we look for
- NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent).
- In depth EHS experience at Manufacturing, assembly operations or Field services operations.
- Experience with and knowledge of independent standards organizations and certification programs such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001, etc.
- Good communication/influencing skills.
- Strong organisational skills, problem solving and continuous improvement skills.
- Good at key stakeholder management skills and advising at a senior level.
- Good IT skills using Microsoft and third-party applications.
- A team player.
- A process-driven approach that can work with and implement the requirements of documented processes and standards
